The Rocking Horse Winter I Horse Trials were completed today with many riders enjoying clear rounds over the open and spacious cross country course. With the weather about perfect it was a nice change for those that had experienced the wintry mix up in Georgia last week.
Down in Beginner Novice Rider Rebecca Charnook on Scarlett had one of those many clear rounds in Stadium and Cross Country to finish ahead of her rivals on her dressage score of 33.7. In Beginner Novice Horse A Darren Chiacchia led all the way on Arapaho GS with a final score of 32 and in the B Division Leyna Johnson on Clew Bay did the same with a small time penalty on CC still finshed clear of the rest of the field with a score of 33.6
Darren Chiacchia also took out the Open Novice Division on Baron Verdi a horse we are sure he has bigger plans for this year. With a 21.5 dressage ride to defend Darren sailed cleanly around the cross country course today to win narrowly from another low scorer in dressage Cristin Scoop on Lightning Attack.
In Novice Rider A there was a tie after cross country for Charlee Marinovich on Rapport and Alexandra Horn on Halls Harbor with Charlee getting the blue ribbon with the closest to optimum time. In the NR B Nikki Wisnick on High Commanchero also lead from dressage and with two clear rounds over the fences it was a great start to the year for that combination.
